Plugins Feature

ProfileURL uses plugins to manage each integration. These plugins are installed using Joomlas's Extensions Installer. There are 3 types of plugins:

Profile Type

Profile type plugins are for user profiles and dashboards. These are pages belonging to users that are identified by their user IDs. You can also add a prefix to these URLs.

For example, adding a users prefix means all profile URLs will look like https://www.mywebsite.com/users/HelloWorld.

Settings:

• URL Prefix (optional) - add a prefix in front of the URL names
• Itemid (optional) - add the Itemid of the menu item created for profile pages

Secondary Type

Secondary type plugins are identified by user IDs, but are attached to a Profile type plugin. Each Secondary plugin is configured with a URL suffix (configurable) that is added to the end of the Profile URL.

For example, if you install and attach the ParaInvite Namecard (secondary) plugin to your Profile plugin, and your Profile URL is HelloWorld, then your namecard link can be accessed via https://www.mywebsite.com/HelloWorld/namecard.

Some Secondary type plugins can be configured to behave like Profile type plugins. Example, instead of https://www.mywebsite.com/HelloWorld/namecard, it will be https://www.mywebsite.com/namecards/HelloWorld

Settings:

• URL Prefix (optional) - add a prefix in front of the URL names
• Itemid (optional) - add the Itemid of the menu item created for asset pages
• Hide If Empty - enable this so users will see the option to change their assets URLs only if they have any asset

Other Type

Other type plugins are used for assets belonging to or created by a user. Examples of assets are events, groups, pages, etc. Users will see a list of assets they have created on the Update page and give each a permalink.

You can also add a prefix for each Other type plugin. For example, adding an events prefix means all your events URLs will look like https://www.mywebsite.com/events/MikesBirthday.

Settings:

• URL Suffix (required) - add a suffix behind the URL names
• Attached Profile Plugin (required) - select from list of installed Profile type plugins to attach this to
• Itemid (optional) - add the Itemid of the menu item created for asset pages
